Advertise to the world that you're alone and want to stay that way with a privacy scarf developed by Joe Malia, a grad student who apparently can't do without his portable media.

Besides being completely dorky-looking, we can't imagine this garment being anywhere near comfortable. How can you breathe in the thing? Well, if playing your handheld games or watching porn is more important than breathing, and you don't mind looking like an anteater wearing a burqa, this scarf's for you. – Charlie White

The analytical company Computer Industry Almanac has published its survey on the smartphones and PDA market dynamics with the forecast. In 2003 the world PDA sales outpaced smartphone sales by 70%. In 2005 the smartphone-PDA ratio was 3.1:1, in 2006 it is predicted to be 5:1. The smartphone sales are ever growing and they will 11 fold higher than PDA sales in 2011.

Depending on the region we can see a great dispersion. Well, in Europe the smartphones were to PDA as 6.5:1 last year and will be 13:1 in 2011. In the US the situation is different. PDA were still the leaders in 2005, however under the forecast smartphones will eventually outgrow PDA in 2006 and will lead 4.4:1 in 2011.

According to the company, increased PDA functionality might prevent from the future sales drop. Navigation opportunities and in a couple of years mobile TV are expected to protect the PDA market from the downturn in future.

The L'Amour Collection from Nokia [May. 18th, 2006|06:49 pm]
______♪♪__#1_Gadgets_Review__♪♪______

These phones goes to all fashion addict out there! Eye catching design but low on quality unlike the other nokia brands.

Proving its devotion to the fashion world Nokia introduced today a collection of three trend-inspired mobile phones - the Nokia 7380, Nokia 7370 and Nokia 7360 - the L'Amour Collection. The phones from the new collection bet on luxurious touches and untraditional materials just like the previous Nokia fashion trio - 7280, 7270 and 7260.

The Nokia 7380 keyless dial phone is a successor of the controversial 7280 lipstick phone. The new 7380 adds a 2 megapixel camera, but loses the slider design. The 7370 model is the first Nokia swivel phone. The small phone manages to fit a high resolution QVGA display, stereo speakers, FM radio and 1.3 megapixel camera. The Nokia 7360 is a simple and affordable bar shaped handset. It features VGA camera, FM radio and MP3 ringtones.

All three fashion phones from the L'Amour Collection are expected to be available in 1st quarter, 2006.

Sony's new micro PC! [May. 18th, 2006|06:47 pm]

Just don't call it a UMPC. Like the "we don't need no stinkin' WMCE" days of yore, Sony is launching into a new market segment with little regard for the generally accepted Microsoft or Intel standards. They have just announced their new Vaio UX Micro PC, which seems more akin to an OQO device than a UMPC. For starters, this unit obviously has a hardware keyboard, which doesn't seem that bad of decision given the difficulty of using current-gen UMPC keyboards.

The UX is also powered by a full on Core Solo processor (don't ask us how they got it in there), and runs Windows XP Professional. As rumored, the device also includes Bluetooth, WiFi, WWAN (EDGE connectivity) and a fingerprint reader. Along with the front camera for video conferencing, there is a camera in the rear for snapping pics, and the UX also can plug into a VGA adapter for powering an external monitor.

The 4.5-inch screen is capable of a 800 x 600 resolution and accepts stylus input. We're not sure if the UX has another pointer device, but the unit can be docked to allow for desktop use, including VGA, Ethernet, IEEE-1394, three USB 2.0 ports and AV out, so you can use a regular mouse in those situations. We wish Sony would mention their battery life predictions for this mini beast, but they did let us know that the UX will be out in July for around $1800.
